About
German-French mezzo-soprano Isabelle Métrope is a sought-after concert and lied soloist. Her repertoire ranges from early baroque music and romantic eras to contemporary works and world premieres.
She studied singing and vocal pedagogy at the Folkwang University of the Arts in Essen, as well as musicology and choral conducting. She received further artistic inspiration from Alain Buet (CNSM Paris), Vangelis Hatzisimos (Athens) and Marina Sandel (Hanover). She also completed studies in music management and applied foreign languages.
Her concert repertoire focuses on early music, classical and romantic works, such as Haydn’s Creation, Mozart’s Mass in C minor and Mendelssohn’s Psalm 42, as well as contemporary works and world premières by Alec Roth, Gordon Kampe and Jan Kopp, among others.
Recitals are another field of her artistic expression. Her current recital Selene’s Journey interweaves opera arias, art songs and traditional folk tunes from Europe and Asia Minor into a narrative concert form. The premiere with pianist Julia Anna Koch and narrator Franziska Klein took place in Stuttgart in February 2025, followed by a tour through Greece in September 2025.
She has been musically influenced by her collaboration with conductors such as Frieder Bernius, Kathy Romey, Hans-Christoph Rademann and Fabien Armengaud (Versailles). As an ensemble singer, she can be heard regularly with the Gaechinger Cantorey.
Isabelle Métrope is also choir conductor, language coach for singers, translator and music journalist.

Selene’s Journey🌙
Selene’s Journey is a recital that combines music, storytelling and culture in an impressive way. Three women – a narrator, a mezzo-soprano and a pianist – take the audience on a journey through European and oriental soundscapes. The programme includes works by Schumann, Bártok and Dvořák as well as folk songs from Europe and Asia Minor. Concerts in Germany will be followed by a concert tour through Greece in September 2025. >Tour dates
